Energy Store
Energy Store have been providing solar power solutions for residential, commercial, school and healthcare organisations for the past five years. In the last year or so they have helped five healthcare organisations in Devon. They’ve helped with successful and trouble-free installation of PV solar panels for:
- NHS Westbank Practice in Starcross.
- The Chagford Health centre.
- Exminster Surgery.
- The Barton Surgery in Dawlish.
- The HartSWell lodge in Plymouth.
In addition to healthcare, Energy Store have installed energy saving solar at several schools, including Roselands County Primary in Paignton, and Shiphay School in Torquay.
It is heartwarming for us to complete well-priced, high-quality work for organisations that help others.

Customers also appreciate their process, where they take up as little of customer time and attention as is necessary. For example, they can use Google Earth to start the design process and see approximate measurements, roof types, scaffolding requirements, etc. They can email or call if anything needs to be clarified. Then they will supply a quotation and their best advice; They will only visit for a feasibility survey once customers have a cost and equipment estimate sent by email.
With commercial premises come unique obstacles due to the types of roofs. Concrete tile, slate, flat roof, and steel trapezoidal, their teams have the knowledge and experience of all types and styles of roofs.
After growing steadily over five years, during a boom period for solar power, the Energy Store website needed updating. The team at energy store had gone from a plucky start up with plenty of determination, to a growing concern with an excellent reputation.
The existing website was well designed, but was fairly generic. Stock photos were used, and overall the values and passion of the team were not displayed to their full extent.
Another concern was that the team was so busy with surveys, installations and after sales, they had little time to work on marketing, branding, sales support, and other building blocks for future growth.
Most companies get to the stage where they are ready to “level up” and it almost involves re-imagining and re-iterating everything. They had just moved into a larger building, needed to look at sign writing, but have never been that happy with their logo. New work clothes needed to be purchased, but would they be in the old company colours?
Wondering where to start, they contacted Out of the Box Innovations. This is a typical situation where a company has no internal marketing, branding or public relations team.
We advised that we should start with competitor research, what are the industry leaders doing well? Where are the gaps? How large are the gaps and are they bridgeable in the short to medium term?
Once we knew the landscape, branding and a new website was on the cards.
A website is the first point of contact that most potential customers have nowadays, a website is like a digital showroom. Once the research, branding and website is in place, we have the basis of everything else needed in marketing terms.
First, we created a new branding, logo, style and feel. We had a mission to move from “local” to corporate which represented the expansion across the UK, and the increase in school, healthcare, holiday park and other high-profile installations.
We performed competitor research to identify what is working for the competition, more importantly, what the national leading solar companies are doing, that the local and regional ones are not.
We were able to create a marketing plan and competitive gap analysis data to show what Energy Store needed to do, to bridge the gap between themselves and the national leaders.
We completed a new WordPress website in a smart design that would not look out of place in a review with any of the leading companies. We replicated the current content, added fresh, but most importantly, used real photos and videos of work by the team.
We data mined and set up a marketing campaign, with ‘lookalike’ prospects that matched the current happy customers.
At the time of writing, we’re about to start on the next work sprint which involves creating case study galleries, email marketing and SEO.
